Baptist principles and historical context

An interesting blog! I would want to challenge a few of the statements made in [Steve Grose's] posting as I suspect they underplay some of the historical and ecclesiastical issues that our early Baptist forebears were reacting and dissenting from at the time, rather than defining new and absolute principles for our Baptist ecclesiology . . . but I suspect it is a little too soon for me to starting wading into controversial issues of this nature in the Aussie context.

My doctoral thesis was around a rethinking of Baptist ecclesiology for a twenty-first century context and the primacy of mission as our purpose – but that can wait for another day . . .

Rev Dr Brian Winslade is Director of National Ministries for the Baptist Union of Australia.

Sounds more like a grizzle than an guzzle from our 2 week old Aussie :) Welcome to the homeland Brian.
Glad to hear you have moved to Brisbane and hope we hear more of you down here.
